Spills On Your Wood Cabinets?

Not a problem! Our own kitchen designer, Lisa Eber, says the best way to clean up any spills or mess on your wood cabinetry is to use Murphy's Oil Soap. You can find Murphy's Oil Soap at any grocery store or home improvement store, even Wal-Mart. Just follow the instructions on the bottle and your cabinets will look better than new without leaving residue or ruining the finish.

Low Cost Signs!

If you go to a professional advertising and sign making company, they are going to charge at least $50 for a 20" x 30" sign! I purchased the corrugated plastic board for $4.22 at an arts and crafts store. Then I purchased some paint pens and stencils for under $10 total. With a little time and patience, we have perfectly made signs for under $15. That is a savings over over $35!!

Cheap, Fresh Basil Year Round!

If you are like us here at Komfort Kitchens, we are not really that talented in keeping plants happy, or even alive. However, we love to use fresh basil when we cook. So, we found hydroponic basil at the local grocery store for under $4. There is no need to plant it or get any soil, all you need to do it place it in a cup or mug and cover the roots with water. It is best if you leave it in a sunny area in the kitchen too. We have had this basil for over two months now and it is still happy, healthy and producing more leaves for us to use! You do need to pay attention to the water level though daily, as the plant soaks up all the water in a day or two. Good luck and happy cooking!

Perfect Kitchen Plant

Do you need some greenery in your kitchen, but you do not have a "green-thumb"? Try an aloe plant! Aloe is very easy to care for and almost impossible to kill from lack of care. Simply buy an aloe plant - you can purchase it at home improvement stores in the garden section, Wal-mart or even the grocery story has them. There are so many uses for aloe too; they are fantastic for cuts, burns and scrapes as well as cooling down and soothing sunburn. All you do it cut off a piece of the leaf and squeeze out the "juice".  So go treat your kitchen to a new aloe plant, you may never know when it may come in handy.

Stinky Hands from Food Prep?

An Chef's trick for getting rid of strong odors on hands, like garlic or curry; use citrus. Peel and orange and eat it with your fingers, or cut an orange in half and mush it up in your hands and fingers. You can use a lemon or lime as well. The citrus will eliminate any strong odors and will leave your hands smelling of fruit. Happy Prepping!
